Rukhe Neelofer Zaidi

Painting human subjects has always been my passion, but in recent years I have become more drawn to the theme of nature. I think this is a reaction to the deteriorating socio-political conditions in my country. Images of helpless, desperate people crying out for justice, safety and the basics of life that are denied to them often seem to be the only visuals available on social media and the news. In an environment that is so prevalently negative, I now avoid focusing on the human form. The need to paint beautiful and serene subjects, not only for my sake but also for the sake of my audience, has become a natural choice. Nature is not only a symbol of freedom and hope for me, but also an exotic escape from the mundane.
