Huma Wasiq

Huma Wasiq is a nature artist from Pakistan with MFA degree from Punjab University. Her work is based on nature and cultural conservation and awareness. She received many academic and merit awards, including Presidential Award and Special Artist Award 2018. She painted hundreds biodiversity illustrations in 5 books, among which one book was a gifted to Pakistan from the British government at Pakistan’s Golden jubilee. This book also received the best book award from Wildlife Conservation Society, in 1998. While another book illustrated by Huma is in recommended for reading by the Higher Education Commission for biodiversity subject in BSC honour course. Huma Wasiq projected nature and cultural conservation message through 5 cartoon/comic books.  She translated 2 European technical art books into Urdu audio books for art students of Pakistan. She herself is an author of two Nature awareness comic books. As an art resource person of Adventure Foundation Pakistan (AFP), Sustainable Tourism of Pakistan(STP), Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) she has produced various awareness materials for conservation of nature and cultural preservation, for Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, Ayubia National Park, STP, AFP and SLF Pakistan. She is also a volunteer art teacher in various schools and colleges. She teaches art to youth through her YouTube channel classes. She has exhibited more than 20 art shows including solo exhibitions. Her work has been published in the magazines of the daily Dawn, The News, The Nation, Fanoon and Natura of WWF. Her unique paintings have been well documented on Hum TV channel and her interviews have been broadcasted on radio as well as on various TV channels. She is member of Pakistan Artists’ Association, Punjab Artists’ association, Alhamra Arts Council and Pakistan National Council of Arts. A student from Froebels International School has published her A level’s  thesis on ‘Huma Wasiq as a nature artist of Pakistan’.
